Yu-Gi-Oh! is a popular card game that gives players the ability to summon monsters in an attempt to defeat their opponents. As with most card games, the majority of Yu-Gi-Oh! cards are relatively inexpensive. A single card costs between 10 cents and $200, on average.

However, every once in a while, collectors may happen across a true gem. Some of the most expensive Yu-Gi-Oh! cards have sold with price tags as high as $2 million. Collecting Yu-Gi-Oh! cards can become an expensive hobby.

Top 10 Most Expensive Yu-Gi-Oh! Cards

Although most Yu-Gi-Oh! cards are relatively inexpensive, collectors that happen across a rare card can make a serious profit. Here’s a list of the most expensive Yu-Gi-Oh! cards out there.

1. Tournament Black Luster Soldier: $2 Million

The Tournament Black Luster Soldier is one of the rarest cards in the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game, and it’s definitely the most expensive. The original owner of the card put a $10 million price tag on it, but it reportedly sold for around $2 million. Produced in 1996, the card was a major factor in a 1999 competition. It wasn’t until 2013 that the card came up for sale.

2. Signed Japanese Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon: $406,800

In 2018, the Signed Japanese Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon demanded a 45 million yen price tag. That worked out to a conversion of about $406,800 at the time of the sale. The card is a one-of-a-kind design, which makes it incredibly valuable. However, the value increased when the original creator of Yu-Gi-Oh!, Kazuki Takahashi, adorned it with his signature.

3. Tyler the Great Warrior: $150,000

The Tyler the Great Warrior card is one of the most expensive Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, or at least it would be if it were for sale. Collectors have reportedly offered up to $150,000 to buy the card, but the current owner hasn’t budged. The card is a one-off that the company printed for a child named Tyler thanks to the Make-a-Wish foundation.

4. Special Edition Cyber Stein: $25,000

The Yu-Gi-Oh! Special Edition Cyber Stein is currently available on eBay for $25,000. However, players that want to use the card must agree to a tradeoff. When they play the card, they automatically lose 5,000 life points. The card gives players the ability to summon a powerful fusion monster from their fusion decks.

5. Amatsu Okami of the Devine Peaks: $18,800

The Amatsu Okami of the Devine Peaks Yu-Gi-Oh! card is worth about $18,800. The card is a rare one that players must link to play. If the card it’s linked with pushes the player’s opponent’s LP to zero, this cardholder wins the match.

6. Iron Knight of Revolution: $12,999

Many believe the Iron Knight of Revolution to be one of the most expensive Yu-Gi-Oh! cards in the world, with an estimated value of $12,999. Yu-Gi-Oh! only ever made three of these cards and they handed them out as part of prizes for first, second and third-place finishers at the 2017 World Yu-Gi-Oh! championship. One of the three winners later decided to sell the card with a $12,999 price tag.

7. Dark Magician Girl: $9,100

In 2020, a Yu-Gi-Oh! collector paid $9,100 to purchase the Dark Magician Girl card. The rare card is part of Yu-Gi-Oh!’s collection of Magic Force cards that are only available in North America. Yu-Gi-Oh! released the card in 2003 as part of a 108-card set the company designed to support spellcaster cards.

8. Armament of the Lethal Lords: $8,000

The Armament of the Lethal Lords was another Yu-Gi-Oh! card used as a prize for a tournament. The company handed the card to the grand prize winner of the 2006 Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship. This is one of the most powerful cards in the Yu-Gi-Oh! game because it turns losses into wins. If a player’s LP falls to zero while the card is on the field, the loss becomes a win for that player.

9. Skuna — The Leonine Rakan: $5,999

Skuna — The Leonine Rakan card is currently available on eBay for $5,999. The card is part of the 2009 Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship Prize Card collection and collectors consider it to be ultra-rare. Although it can’t be special summoned, it’s one of the most powerful cards in the game.

10. First Edition Blue-Eyes White Dragon: $4,200

The 1996 First Edition Blue-Eyes White Dragon Yu-Gi-Oh! card is on eBay with a $4,200 price tag. The card is special not only because of its rarity, but because it resonated with children as the Blue-Eyes White Dragon was the most powerful monster in the first edition of the Yu-Gi-Oh! television show.

Final Take

Yu-Gi-Oh! cards are relatively inexpensive for collectors to get their hands on. However, if they open the pack to find a rare card, they could make out like bandits. Consider buying a few packs to see if you end up with a card worth thousands of dollars!
