The top button is actually a switch that gives the option to connect the headset to multiple platforms. You can choose between “PC” or “3.5mm” so that the headset can be used for a smartphone and your pc or console. This is done by using the USB cable for your PC/console and the 3.5 mm cable for your smartphone. The headset is able to mix audio from both sources at once and this gives the opportunity to use the headset while gaming and still be able to answer all your calls. This can be a useful feature, but whether or not people will use it, remains the question. The other buttons, from top to bottom, are standard for: equalizer (G3), surround sound on/off (G2), illumination (G1) and mute. All the buttons are G-buttons and can therefore be programmed to your likings. The build-in, noise cancelling and foldable microphone can be used to communicate in-game or for phone calls. When folded down, the microphone can be extended by an additional 3 centimeters (1.2 inches) for the optimal distance to your mouth. When using skype I noticed that the microphone picks up your own voice and gives a feedback into your ears so that you wont yell at someone because you have a noise dampening headset on. At the end of the microphone there is a tiny red LED to indicate if the microphone is muted or not and the red LED is clearly visible from the corner of your eyes. When the headset is plugged into your phone via the 3.5 mm jack, you can fold up the main microphone so that it is barely visible and you can use the built-in microphone of the 3.5 mm cable. Both ear cups and the headband have fluffy, removable cushions to enhance the comfort. The comfort is good, even for people who wear glasses, but after a lot of use the cushions will become dirty. A bit odd are the removable covers from the ear cups. It is nice if you want to access the headsets electronics but I can’t see any other purposes for this. Sound qualityThe sound quality is very good but do notice that the surround sound will only work when you install the Logitech software. If the software is not installed, the headset will only use stereo sound which is not that bad either but 7.1 surround sound is still a lot better than stereo. The low bass tones may sound a bit louder but this can be overcome by using the equalizer in the Logitech software. In general the sound quality is very good. We did have a little problem with the volume wheel, sometimes it skipped some steps because the scroll resistance is to soft. In very few cases the volume even changed by just tapping the side of the ear cups. The other buttons are very solid with no wobbling and the click feedback is very nice. ConclusionA colorful headset that combines functionality with style and ease of use. The sound quality is very good but the volume wheel needs a better scroll resistance. The ability to use both USB and 3.5 mm jack at the same time is an excellent feature but the question remains if people will actually use it. About the price, for 150€ this headset can be yours and I think this is a fair price for what you get.
