HW: Dell 15 5575 AMD ryzen 5 2500u 2.00Ghz quad core with vega 8 graphics 8gb RAM 256gb nvme ssd + 1tb hdd i accidentally broke my charger. I went to a pc repair store to get a new charger, i tried a dell OEM charger and an aftermarket charger. with both, the laptop says it doesnt recognize it. it says its charging but the charge doesnt go up. (it doesnt say "not charging"). i borrowed my friend's original OEM charger that came with his laptop. same thing happening, says its charging but it isnt. and with all chargers, i've checked to make sure wattage, amps, and voltage are good, input and output. i did try multiple wall outlets. heres where it gets weird. the laptop only charges when it is completely shut down and plugged in. when turned on and plugged in, it doesnt charge. also when its on and plugged in, the cpu is capped at 0.38GHz, im assuming cuz dell cripples your laptop if it doesnt like the charger. i've tried multiple chargers. i've also tried to disable, reinstall, and update the microsoft ACPI - Compliant control method battery driver. |
