Laneige lip glowy balm berry review năm 2024

I have a soft spot in my heart for Laneige. It was one of the first K-beauty brands I got into years and years ago and their Water Bank line is still my favourite.

I love Laneige’s Lip Sleeping Masks so imagine my excitement when these lip balms were released! Now, times that excitement by 100 because they launched during Sephora’s VIB Rouge sale. Needless to say, I bought all four of them immediately without hesitation. Did I regret my hasty decision? Obviously not.

Everything about these lip balms is amazing, from the aesthetics to the smell and texture and most importantly, the hydration. I usually alternate between these lip balms or Kaja’s Mood Balms whenever I leave the house and my lips are constantly thanking me.

Onto the review!

The Specifics:

Lip condition: I’ve used these balms on my lips when they were in various states; chapped and cracking, peeling, thick with liquid lipstick and when my lips were in good condition.

Lip prep: None.

What is it?: Laneige’s Lip Glowy Balm is a “light-weight, moisture-coating lip balm for hydrated, tinted, and kissable lips throughout the day.”–Taken from the Sephora website.

Ingredients: can be found here.

Packaging: Cute and chic! On the boxes, there’s a filigree design etched on the sides that shimmer iridescently but you can’t see it in the photos. The tubes are so gorgeous but the best part is their caps. I can’t get enough of the clear coloured tops, their aesthetics remind me of summer and fruit (which was probably Laneige’s intention).

Affordability: Sephora charges $20 CDN for each (net weight: 10g) but I know you can get it cheaper from other places. I bought all four from Sephora during their 20% sale, paying $18 CDN each. Personally, I’m trying to slowly stop shopping at Sephora for personal reasons so next time, I’ll make sure to buy them somewhere else.

Are the lip balms worth it? I use them constantly and I love everything about them. For me, I think they’re worth it.

Maggie approves.

Smell: Their scents aren’t overpowering and are very subtle, so if you are sensitive to fragrances, these should be okay for you (the peach would be the safest bet since the smell is almost indiscernible).

  • Berry: bubblegum
  • Grapefruit: grapefruit candy
  • Peach: fresh peaches
  • Pear: pear hard candies

Berry and pear have the strongest scents, then grapefruit but unfortunately, peach barely has a scent. You only can smell the fragrance when you put your nose right to the tube and even then, it’s so faint you may only catch a whiff. If the peach had a stronger scent, it’d be my favourite.

And if you happen to lick your lips, they don’t taste off like plastic, or greasy (like some lip balms out there where you can taste the emollient) and aren’t sweet. They don’t really have a taste which I really appreciate.

Texture: Glossy and balmy but not greasy or sticky. If you’ve tried Laneige’s lip sleeping mask, these aren’t as heavy. They are hydrating but don’t bleed or settle into the lip lines.

Finish: In the picture below, they look super glossy but they aren’t. They add a subtle sheen to the lips and if you are wearing a different lip product underneath, these don’t disturb that layer.

Colour intensity: I know Laneige says they are tinted and in the picture below, you can see some colour but the tints don’t show up on the lips. My natural lip colour isn’t super pigmented or deep and the tints still don’t show up.

Berry is supposed to be a pink tint, grapefruit a coral tint, the pear is supposed to be clear and peach is supposed to have a peach tint. Supposed, supposed, supposed. If you’re looking for a tinted lip balm, I would look somewhere else. These are definitely the most subtle tinted lip balms I’ve ever tried. I still love them though.

Wear test: Obviously, they don’t last through a meal or a coffee date with a friend. They did survive a two-hour reptile convention (no drinking or eating allowed) and they kept my lip stain underneath in perfect condition.

Longevity: These are meant to hydrate the lips while adding a subtle sheen. They kept my lips hydrated but past the two-hour mark, the balm was gone. They aren’t healing like the lip sleeping mask but they do keep my lips hydrated for the first couple of hours. After that, I had to reapply another thin layer. They aren’t the most long-wearing lip balms I’ve tried before.

What I love: I love everything about these balms. My favourite part is the texture and how they feel on the lips. They keep my lips well hydrated, aren’t sticky or glossy and they don’t mess with the lip stains I usually wear underneath them. The biggest thing is that you don’t taste the emollient. We’ve all tried lip balms where you could taste the grease/oil and it left a bad, plastic taste in the mouth. You don’t get that with these lip balms and I love that the most.

What I don’t love: The lack of tints in all of them and everything about the peach. I was the most excited about the peach, even more than the grapefruit (and I love grapefruit) but it was the most disappointing out of the four of them. There was no tint or smell at all. So disappointing. I wish it would’ve had a stronger fragrance.

Possible dupe: If you are looking for a lip balm that will tint the lips and leave a pretty stain behind, check out Kaja’s Mood Balms (review coming within the next few days!). Other than Kaja’s balms, I can’t think of any other dupe that out-performs these ones.

Repurchase: Yes!

Recommend: Yes, as long as you know that you aren’t getting a pigmented tinted lip balm and that the peach has almost no scent. It sounds like I don’t like these balms but I really do and I do recommend them.

Final thoughts: I was the most excited for the peach and apprehensive about the pear (I’m not a fan of anything pear related) but it turns out, the peach was my least favourite and the pear won my heart. The pear has the strongest scent, which I really like. Overall, I love these balms and I make sure to carry one with me every time I leave the house.

Rating: 4.5/5

Thanks for checking out my review on Laneige’s Lip Glowy Balm! Have you tried any of these? Do you have a favourite?

(I am not affiliated or paid by the brand or Sephora to talk about these balms. I am just a weirdo on the internet talking about makeup.)

Does Laneige lip mask help with dark lips?
