Notes on sSpec SL9XN. Socket type Socket 775 (LGA775). Type CPU / Microprocessor. Frequency (GHz) ?. Bus speed (MHz) ?. Processor number?. The processor supports the 775_VR_CONFIG_06 guidelines for processors with TDP up to 65 Watt, and Iccmax up to 75A.

The Celeron 430 is one of Intel's budget-low-power Desktop processors. It was released in 2009 with 1 cores and 1 threads. With base clock at 1.8GHz, max speed at 1.8GHz, and a 35W power rating. The Celeron 430 is based on the Conroe 65nm family and is part of the Celeron series.

We covered the deep dive details of the Conroe chip design in our Intel Celeron 440 and Celeron 420 review, so head there for more information on the Celeron 430's architecture, which is identical to the Celeron 420.

As the higher-priced version of the Celeron 420, the Celeron 430 has higher base and Boost frequencies of 1.8 and 1.8 GHz, respectively. That's an increase in base frequency and a bump to boost clocks, but the real advantage should lay in the higher Package Power Tracking (PPT) envelope, which is a measurement of the maximum amount of power delivered to the socket. The Celeron 420's PPT tops out at 35W, while the motherboard can pump up to 142W to the Celeron 430 at peak performance. That opens up much more aggressive boost behavior, on both single and multiple cores, that could widen the performance gap beyond what we see on the spec sheet.

Today we’ll be taking a closer look at the Intel Celeron 430 1-core desktop processor that was released in Feb 2009. Intel offers the Celeron 430 without integrated graphics. It runs $50 shipped and is ideal for those that plan on using it a system with a dedicated graphics card.

That said, Intel still lags behind in frequency when the Sempron 150 operates at 2.9GHz at any given moment and 2.9GHz when push comes to shove.

If extended overclocking and boost frequencies are trivial matters to you, Intel also offers the Celeron 420 at $23. It’s still outfitted with 1-cores and 1-threads, but clocks in at a slower 1.6GHz and maxes out at only 1.6GHz.

That said, to squeeze out all the potential of this surprisingly potent budget-low-power chip, you’ll want (and need) to splurge on an enthusiast-grade Q45, VIA P4M890, X38 motherboard.

Fresh from a successful roll-out of mainstream Celeron CPUs, Intel's attack on AMD now extends down into the budget-low-power with its Celeron 430 processors, which the company is making available as of Feb 2009.

Below is a comparison of all graphics cards average FPS performance (using an average of 80+ games at ultra quality settings), combined with the Intel Celeron 430.
