Cobra kai season 2 episode reviews

By the second season of Cobra Kai, fans were totally invested in the series. And by the end, viewers were anxiously awaiting the third season so they could binge all 10 episodes in one sitting.

It's no surprise since the second season saw the official re-introduction of the character of John Kreese, new characters like Tory, and the heat rising higher and higher between Johnny and Daniel, as well as the kids of Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do.

Like the first season, every episode of season two ranked above an 8.0 on IMDb, and the fantastic season set the stage for the equally successful season three. But which episodes were considered to be the best?

Back In Black (Episode 2) – 8.2

Cobra kai season 2 episode reviews

The lowest on the list, but still above an 8.0, is the second episode where Daniel decides to re-open Miyagi-Do and stick to his guns in teaching kids karate the right way, only to be used in self-defense versus anger and brutality.

But he is also finding it increasingly difficult to manage teaching classes at the dojo and running his auto business, which makes Amanda frustrated because she's has been left to hold down the fort on her own.

Glory Of Love (Episode 8) – 8.3

Cobra kai season 2 episode reviews

This was a cute episode when Sam and Robby attend an '80s-themed roller-skating party and Sam runs into some trouble with a clearly jealous Tory, who is working at the rink. Meanwhile, this is the episode where Johnny starts to write a Facebook message to Ali but then changes his mind.

All about love, Daniel and Amanda make up and Johnny teaches Carmen's slimy and cheating boyfriend a lesson, protecting his neighbor, Miguel's mother, and the woman he clearly has romantic feelings for.

Mercy Part II (Episode 1) – 8.4

Cobra kai season 2 episode reviews

The first episode of the season, not surprisingly, didn't rank high on the list since it took some time to really build up the story and reach the pivotal moments. But this was still a solid, high-rated episode that looked at the aftermath of the All Valley Tournament at the end of season one.

Hot off Miguel's win, the students of Cobra Kai became over-confident, believing they were the best, and made sure everyone knew it. Meanwhile, however, Johnny begins to wonder if he is headed down a dangerously familiar path with these kids and struggles to reconcile his desire to change with the hold Kreese still has over him after all these years.

The Moment Of Truth (Episode 4) – 8.4

Tory is introduced in this episode, a seemingly confident young woman with some background training who seems to have a natural talent for karate. And she also seems to value the "strike first" mantra of Cobra Kai a little too much. It's obvious she has a chip on her shoulder and viewers realize there will be more to this girl as the story develops.

Meanwhile, more students are showing up at Miyagi-Do, and while some of the students excel, despite not having done well at Cobra Kai, a few of them prove to be really difficult to teach, especially by Daniel's softer methods.

Lull (Episode 7) – 8.4

Cobra kai season 2 episode reviews

This episode contained the fight training exercise at the creek, where Johnny finally realizes that he does not want to run Cobra Kai like Kreese did and kicks him out of the dojo, once and for all. He tells the students, and Kreese, that he does not want them to follow the "no mercy" mantra and that it should be about honor. This line will become critical in the final episode when Miguel takes the advice and almost gets killed because of it. Nonetheless, the decision shows that Johnny is on the right path and further solidifies him as one of the most liked characters on the show.

Meanwhile, Miguel shows that there is still goodness in him, despite unnecessarily knocking Hawk down during the fight in the creek, when he returns Mr. Miyagi's Medal of Honor to Daniel.

Fire And Ice (Episode 3) – 8.5

Daniel's elaborate plan to recruit new students at a local fair and annual neighborhood event backfires when Cobra Kai hijacks his mesmerizing performance to impress the attendees with their loud and abrupt performance instead.

Meanwhile, Johnny decides to do his own promotional work to get kids interested in Cobra Kai, which becomes hilarious because he still doesn't know how to use the Internet.

All In (Episode 5) – 8.7

Rounding out the top four episodes of season two is this one about Daniel continuing to work with Demetri in hopes that he can help the young man build his confidence and successfully learn how to block or throw a punch.

Meanwhile, Demetri's former best friend Eli is now transforming himself into Hawk with a confident swagger and a mohawk to boot. One of the most notable scenes from the episode is when Sam and Robby team up, using the partnering methods Daniel showed them, to fight back against Hawk when he attacks Demetri at the mall.

Take A Right (Episode 6) – 8.9

Cobra kai season 2 episode reviews

The sixth episode took older fans down memory lane to the original Karate Kid movie as Johnny reunites with his old friends and fellow former Cobra Kai students for a proper send off to Tommy, who is terminally ill and doesn't have much time left.

The group, all played by the original actors (several of many characters returning from the Karate Kid movies in the first two seasons) embark on a fun night out that, of course, includes a bar fight with some young punks who don't know who they're messing with. It was a fun and nostalgic episode with great fight scenes, throwbacks, and tears.

Pulpo (Episode 9) – 8.9

Cobra kai season 2 episode reviews

As with season one, the penultimate episode ranks second best for the season. As tensions build between the Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do kids, Daniel tries to soothe the growing tension between himself and his wife by taking her out on a date.

It's in this episode when Sam and Tory face off in a drinking competition at a party (where they were all engaged in underage drinking, it's worth noting), ending with a drunken Sam kissing Miguel, unaware that Tory saw the whole thing. Robby also takes an embarrassed Sam to Johnny's place to sleep it off so she won't get in trouble with her dad.

No Mercy (Episode 10) – 9.4

Cobra kai season 2 episode reviews

The epic fight scene is played over and over again in season three, as Tory is on the warpath, desperate for revenge on Sam. She hunts her down at the school and a battle between them quickly turns into a massive battle between all members of Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do. Concurrently is a head-to-head fight between Robby and Miguel.

The cliff-hanger ending had fans shocked as Miguel was seriously injured and possibly even dead, making Robby the prime villain on the show. Meanwhile, after Johnny took Sam in behind Daniel's back, the tensions reached an all-time high between the parents, too. And with both Miguel and Sam seriously hurt and Robby on the run, Amanda put her foot down and told Daniel it was done: no more karate. A dejected and hopeless Johnny, feeling guilty for what happened to Miguel, abandons his car and throws his phone onto the beach just as a notification pops up about Ali accepting his friend request. The season ended sparking tons of conversation as fans wondered what might happen in season three.
