The changes are profound across the Ford Focus line-up in 2021, with the range now down to just three after the blue oval manufacturer retired four MY20 variants. The trio that survives are the entry-level ST-LIne, the performance-inspired ST, and the crossover-style Active. With a competitive price-tag, this sporty ensemble features an extensive level of kit right from the get-go, including 8.0-inch infotainment system, sat-nav, wireless phone charging, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, DAB+ digital radio, adaptive cornering lights, auto headlights and wipers, dual-zone climate control, keyless operation, parking sensors, reversing camera and sports suspension, to name but a few. The Focus also lays claim to a five-star ANCAP safety rating thanks to all the latest and greatest safety aids. There is a clean and functional aesthetic inside the Focus, with plenty of storage options, and what is a minimalistic look. Of course, many have come to know the Focus as an enthusiastic performer, and that certainly rings true, with a warm and lively dynamic provided by the 1.5-litre ‘EcoBoost’ three-cylinder turbo petrol engine. From 134kW in the ST-Line and Active or 147kW in the ST hot hatch, power is in abundance, while the addition of an independent rear suspension pays huge dividends in the ST-Line. Rounded out with German build quality, the Focus is one of the most underrated vehicles on sale.

The forthcoming 2023 Ford Focus ST will introduce mild updates. This hot hatch will not receive a redesign, as some rumors suggested. The 2022 model year introduced a nice facelift, with a new front fascia. That includes a redesigned grille and new LED headlights. The Fiesta model also introduces a new mild-hybrid system.
On the inside, this model provides a digital driver’s display and numerous driver-assistance aids. However, Focus ST is an incredibly sporty version with better performances, more premium features, and a very athletic appearance. While we don’t know all of the details, here’s what we know so far.
Ford Focus ST Facelift
Recently, we saw the first spy photos of the 2023 Ford Focus ST. It is a pre-facelift model, however, so we don’t know what the final product will look like. Anyway, this prototype wears gold brake calipers and it seems like the new model will be lower than the outgoing one. On top of that, we can easily spot the dual exhaust tips. This strongly suggests that the Blue Oval carmaker will introduce a more potent powertrain option.
The RS model won’t happen, so the Focus ST will remain Focus’ only high-performance version. It will share a lot of stuff with the Ford Puma ST. The Focus model already gained new front fascia, with a reworked grille and brand-new Matrix LED headlights. The ST version will get the same updates as well, but this model will look sportier and it will wear additional black accents. Lastly, Focus ST will provide new alloy wheels and new exterior colors.
Interior Changes
We don’t expect major changes inside the cabin. New 2023 Ford Focus ST will offer a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display. Thanks to that, the interior will wear fewer traditional dials. Furthermore, Focus ST comes with an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen.
The infotainment system will get an important update, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will come as standard. Unlike the base trim level, this ST model will wear sportier seats, unique upholstery, and additional standard features. However, this is everything we know about the interior of the Focus ST model.
More Torque Please
Under the hood, the 2023 Ford Focus ST will hide the same 1.5-liter gasoline engine. Reportedly, this engine will be re-tuned and it will produce more power than before. More precisely, this engine will provide more torque. The current one generates 213 lb-ft of torque, and a new model will reportedly offer up to 236 lb-ft of torque. The Focus ST will also deliver 200 horsepower.
On the other hand, this model should gain a mild-hybrid engine in the near future. Moreover, the all-electric version is also a possibility. Ford and Volkswagen are sharing ideas and technologies, so the new Focus will sit on the MEB skateboard platform. Thanks to that, electrification is the only logical outcome.
2023 Ford Focus ST Price and Release Date
The price of the upcoming 2023 Ford Focus ST will start at around $30,000. The Blue Oval automaker will reportedly launch a new Focus hatchback later in 2022, or in the first quarter of 2023. More details will become available this summer, so stay tuned.
