Event overview

Watch Melbourne come alive for the Grand Slam of Asia Pacific with Events Travel in 2023.

AO, as it’s affectionally known, is Australia’s most loved sporting event and the biggest of the four tennis Grand Slams. The tournament is played over a two-week period in Melbourne and is a celebration of tennis, hospitality and entertainment. Melbourne Park and the myriad of arenas, outer courts and parks will be transformed with a unique festival-like atmosphere, ready to enchant visitors from around the world.

AO is unlike any other sporting event on the planet. Each year it’s reinvented with incredible culinary offerings from world-renowned Melbourne restaurants and celebrity chefs; with dazzling hospitality experiences and entertainment for the entire family. Throughout Melbourne Park, fans are treated to incredible facilities and brand activations that blur the line between spectating and participating, engaging fans with big-name music acts, inclusive games, big screens, bustling bars and much more.

During the first week, fans will enjoy the chance to see top players up close on warm-up courts, outer courts and main arenas. Come the second week and the finals, the biggest match-ups take place on Rod Laver Arena. That’s where you’ll want to be and where we can get you with our official travel packages.

Melbourne is the perfect host city for AO and a fantastic city to visit, particularly during summer. The city, coastlines and countryside have a lot to offer from decadent restaurants to lively bars, beautiful gardens to long sandy beaches and art-filled lane ways to inspiring museums. Whether you stay in Melbourne or venture out in search of a new adventure along the Great Ocean Road, Yarra Valley and beyond; Victoria is a world-class travel destination that will ensure you have plenty to do and experience around AO.

We’ve been helping fans experience AO since 1994 and we look forward to helping you experience it in 2023.

As an Official Travel Agent, we have a full range of travel packages available including tickets, hand-selected hotels, Premium Experiences and extra travel services. All packages start with Upper Baseline tickets on Rod Laver Arena. These are the best shaded seats on the upper level. From here you can upgrade to Lower Level or Super Row. There’s plenty of options available.

I’d like to invite you to explore this brochure to find the package that best suits you; and if you need a hand, our team of Travel Consultants are waiting to ensure you get the most from your travel experience. They’re available for questions, customised packages, upgrades, quotes and more.

Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned AO veteran, we look forward to providing you with a world-class travel experience, after all, that’s what we do.

See you there,

If you have a reserved ticket for any of the three main arenas, including Rod Laver Arena, you get access to Melbourne Park and access to your reserved seat in the arena on a per session basis. Travel tips

  • If you want to see your favourite players up close and personal then opt for a first week package. This is a great option to enjoy the best of Melbourne Park, where seeded and non-seeded players can be seen on outer courts and warm-up courts, accessible with a Grounds Pass or reserved ticket on Rod Laver Arena or other arenas.
  • Second week packages are where you’ll see the biggest matches – a Rod Laver Arena reserved ticket is a must.
  • If you have a DAY session reserved ticket, after the session concludes, you can remain in Melbourne Park to enjoy the evening festivities and action on the outer courts. If you choose a reserved ticket for the NIGHT session, you can only arrive after 5:00 pm, so if you want to explore Melbourne Park by day, add a Grounds Pass to your package. Grounds passes give you access to Melbourne Park, outer courts and warm-up courts.
  • If you’re looking for a premium experience, entertaining friends, colleagues or clients, add a Premium Experience to your package. From AO Dining experiences and Behind The Scenes tours to Rod Laver Arena walk-on experiences there are many options to level-up your AO experience.

Destination

Melbourne

Melbourne is a dynamic cosmopolitan city both stylish and forward-thinking, yet laid back and care free. The city is renowned for creative arts, world-class dining, amazing galleries, cafes, shops and spectacular sports and events. In the CBD, you will find hidden laneways brimming with street art, while just north you’ll find bohemian shopping strips and some of the best Italian food outside of Italy. Just outside the CBD, a short stroll or free tram ride away, is the world-famous MCG and Melbourne Park, host of the Australian Open. Intrepid travellers will adore this city for the endless opportunities that await; just one or two hours away lie wineries, National Parks, alpine towns and coastal roads. Melbourne has something for everyone and is the perfect host for your dream Grand Slam experience.

Climate

January is summer in Melbourne. Average highs are 26ºC and lows are 19ºC. Rainfall is limited and you can expect hot sunny days. We recommend choosing shaded seats for day sessions and Lower Bowl seats for night sessions. On exceptionally hot days, Rod Laver Arena’s roof will be closed and the arena will be air-conditioned, so there’s nothing to be concerned about; it’s all part of the summer tennis experience!
