What movies are gonna come out in 2024?

• Disney announced new updates to its theatrical release schedule at San Diego Comic-Con and D23 Expo.
• Two more "Avengers" sequels, a "Thunderbolts" movie, and "Deadpool 3" are coming.
• Marvel's next release is the third "Ant-Man" movie, out in February 2023.

February 17, 2023: "Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania"

In the sequel, Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton takes over the role), Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), her parents Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), find themselves inside the Quantum Realm. 

In the footage shown exclusively at SDCC in July, we saw how saving the world went to Lang's head just a little too much. He likes to remind his family of his role in reversing the Blip and even got a book deal out of it. Life is going OK until the Lang family is sucked into the Quantum Realm.

"This thing is bananas," Rudd said at D23 Expo. "This is going to be unlike anything you've seen from us."

Jonathan Majors will reprise his role as Kang, a character first introduced in "Loki." This time we'll see a variant of the villain.

At D23 Expo, an exclusive look at the film showed Kang darkly asking Scott how many times he has killed him in the past. When Kang asked Scott for his help to steal something back for him, Scott refused to make a pact with him. Kang didn't like that response, throwing Scott into a wall.

The same footage teased Bill Murray in an exclusive look at the film as a character who seems to have a history with Janet.

May 5, 2023: "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3."

Director James Gunn returns for the third installment in the "GotG" franchise which will revolve heavily around Rocket Raccoon's backstory.

While considering years ago about how to incorporate Rocket into the film, Gunn told the San Diego crowd in July, "I realized he was the saddest creature in the universe and that's what this story is about."

The emotional exclusive footage shown at SDCC teased adorable shots of a younger Rocket, juxtaposed with darker sequences. The film will also revolve around Peter Quill's desire to reunite with the love of his life, Gamora, despite a variant of her having no recollection of him at all. 

"She does not know who he is. The pain of that is a big part of his journey. It opens up a vulnerability to the Guardians of the Galaxy to danger," Pratt said at SDCC of losing the love of his life.

That danger may come in the form of Chukwudi Iwuji's High Evolutionary, who appeared in costume during the panel, and will be featured in the next film. Will Poulter, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Sean Gunn, and Maria Bakalova will also star in the third film.

July 28, 2023: "The Marvels"

Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) will be joined by "Ms. Marvel" star Iman Vellani, who stars in her own Disney+ series, and Teyonah Parris, who will play an adult version of Monica Rambeau.

The adult Rambeau was first seen in "WandaVision," where she received superhero powers.

A teaser shown at D23 teased that the three women's light-based powers are entangled with one another, causing them to be able to swap places with one another. Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel will also meet Goose, the alien cat who blinded Nick Fury.

May 3, 2024: "Captain America: New World Order"

Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) is the new Captain America in the fourth film in the franchise.

At D23 Expo, Feige announced that Shira Haas will play superheroine Sabra while Tim Blake Nelson will reprise his role from 2008's "The Incredible Hulk" as The Leader, a Hulk villain.

Danny Ramirez and Carl Lumbly will also reprise their roles from "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier."

Director Julius Onah ("The Cloverfield Paradox") described the sequel as a thriller.

July 26, 2024: "Thunderbolts"

"There's currently a world without the Avengers," Feige said at D23 Expo of the state of the MCU in the next "Captain America" film. "Just because there is not an organization of the Avengers, doesn't mean there's not a group of superheroes in the MCU."

The ragtag bunch of antiheroes includes a group of characters we've seen introduced in various movies and Disney+ shows. Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), US Agent (Wyatt Russell), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), and Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) will all star in the upcoming movie. The group basically seems like Marvel's version of the Suicide Squad.

"It's good to be back. I'm as excited as the most boring Avenger," Russell joked about returning to the MCU.

"They look like a good, troubled bunch and maybe I know a thing or two about that," Stan, whose character has dealt with a lot of PTSD said about Bucky being a part of a group again.

"I think it tells you all you need to know about the Thunderbolts when beloved Winter Soldier is the most stable among them," Feige said.

September 6, 2024: "Blade"

Although Wesley Snipes originated the role in the 1998 movie, Feige first announced that Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali will play the human/vampire hybrid, who protects humans from vamps, at SDCC 2019.

Ali's Blade was first teased in a post-credit scene of "Eternals."

November 8, 2024: "Deadpool 3"

Reynolds surprised fans with a video update to the third movie, announcing that his pal Hugh Jackman will reprise his role as X-Men character Wolverine.

In an 80-second video, the actor admitted he's had a tough time finding the right way to introduce the raunchy character into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"His first appearance in the MCU obviously needs to feel special. We need to stay true to the character," Reynolds said. "Every Deadpool needs to stand out and stand apart. It's been an incredible challenge that has forced me to reach down deep inside and I have nothing."

Reynolds teased that his one idea involved asking Jackman if he'd like to join him in the sequel to play Wolverine "one more time." Jackman, walking in the background of the video, said, "Sure, Ryan."

The video ended with the "Deadpool" logo getting slashed by one of Wolverine's adamantium claws.

February 14, 2025: "Fantastic Four"

First announced several years ago, Feige confirmed at SDCC that the "Fantastic Four" reboot will kick off Phase Six of the MCU.

At D23 Expo, Feige announced that "WandaVision" director Matt Shakman will direct the reboot. No cast has been named for the film.

May 2, 2025: "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty"

The next "Avengers" movie will revolve around Jonathan Major's character and will kick off summer 2025.

May 1, 2026: "Avengers: Secret Wars"

Feige originally announced that a second "Avengers" movie will close out Phase 6 a few months later in 2025. As of October 11, 2022, the film has been pushed back to start off summer 2026.

There are also currently five untitled Marvel movies on the calendar, one of which will likely be "Armor Wars."

According to Disney's updated release calendar, as of October 2022, there are five more untitled Marvel movies on the way. It's possible an "X-Men" reboot will appear among these titles in the future.

Additionally, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Don Cheadle's Disney+ series, "Armor Wars," will now be a movie.
