After a year when the list of Singapore public holidays was delayed by a couple of month (2020-06-24), today's announcement of the 2023 Singapore public holidays occurs in early April as per custom (2019-04-08, 2018-04-05 and 2017-04-05). For a second year in a row, the usual mention that the dates for the Hari Raya Puasa and the Hari Raya Haji public holidays were "Subject to change", was not repeated. However, the aforementioned list of 2023 Singapore public holidays once again includes the mentions that "Monday, 2 January 2023, will be a public holiday." and that "Tuesday, 24 January 2023, will be a public holiday.", as well as that "Monday, 13 November 2023, will be a public holiday." , though it makes no reference to which weekday your rest day falls. In the past, the determination of the annual date of the Deepavali public holiday in Singapore was often problematic, with the announced date for 2009 (2009-02-10 and 2008-02-25), being revised by a full month, and smaller, one-day, errors in the announced date of the 2014 and 2013 Deepavali public holidays in Singapore (2014-04-07, 2013-04-09 and 2012-04-09). But this year, the surprise error comes in the announced date of the Vesak Day public holiday, on Saturday, June 3, 2023 (instead of Friday, June 2, 2023). We expect this to be corrected in the coming months. Finally, the dates of the 2 Muslim public holidays for 2023 in Singapore follow the new visibility criteria hinted at last year (2021-10-21) and made more explicit by Indonesia, recently (2022-02-23).
