Thất bại này khiến Philippines chỉ giành được 4 điểm sau 3 lượt trận, tạm thời đứng nhì bảng B và nhiều khả năng sẽ bị loại.
Trong khi đó, Palestines đã giành ngôi nhất bảng B và thẳng tiến vào chung kết ngày hội bóng đá lớn nhất châu Á với 9 điểm tuyệt đối.
Ngoài Palestines, trận thua của Philippines cũng đã giúp cho đội tuyển Thái Lan và 5 đội tuyển khác sớm giành vé đi tiếp.
Cụ thể, Thái Lan, Kyrgyzstan và Ấn Độ (cùng 6 điểm), xếp trên Philippines, chắc chắn góp mặt trong top 5 đội nhì bảng xuất sắc nhất để vượt qua vòng loại.
