It’s been ages since my last post, but anyone following me on Instagram would know that I had been juggling between having a new job and living in a new home, so everything is rather exciting, and dreading at the same time. Anyway, let’s get on with why I am back on your screen today.

Well.. what’s my favourite colour, you asked? One of them is green. What’s my favourite skincare product, you asked again. They come in green packaging (!). I am going to share two K-beauty products that have improved my skin and my life (read: my confidence) significantly. Okay, first up:

Laneige Cica Sleeping Mask

Like a bad ex-boyfriend, my first encounter with the brand was through its cult-favourite Laneige original sleeping mask (the blue one, that is), which didn’t work out very well. But I was willing to give Laneige a second chance, and this Cica Sleeping Mask has won me over! My skin doesn’t have any significant/noticable problems but after over-exfoliating mistakes I did during my mid-twenties… my skin started to get redness, textures, and is prone to whiteheads.

The Laneige Cica Sleeping Mask is made to strengthen your skin barrier, so I gave it a go by buying a trial size, which I enjoyed very much.

Texture wise, it’s thick and creamy, glides easily and feels very emolient to the skin. It does feel like your standard moisturizer but it plumps up your skin without leaving an icky feeling. I use this as my last step during my night routine and I wake up with non-greasy, beautiful glow the next morning. It helps heal my acne rapidly, and I notice less redness on my skin especially post-cleansing.

The K-beauty hypes on the Centella Asiatica has been around for a long time and apparently it took Laneige 20 years to perfect the ingredients, but of so many products I’ve tried, I am impressed with how this actually works. This peeling gel was actually ‘inherited’ to me by a dear friend. I have long bid farewell to any face scrubs, clay mask, or any deep/pore cleansing skincare that claims to take off the gunk and dead skin cells. I had thought my regular, chemical exfoliation is by far enough for my skin — until I tried this.

The thick, creamy texture has teeny tiny granules in it that scrub your skin without ‘stripping’ them. I use this twice a week or twice in ten days, by applying this to my skin, leave it for one minute or two before I massage all my gunk off the skin, which leaves me with ‘baby butts’ soft skin, with no stripped or tight feeling afterwards. No other products I’ve tried in this whole world has ever done this kind of magic to my skin.

It’s kind of disgusting, yet, satisfying to see and witness your so-called dead skin cells balls up and rolled off as you massage your skin, but I don’t know how to live my life without them after this 🙂

Anyway, I would like to emphasise (again) that everyone has different skin types and what works well for me might not work on you. I’d recommend to buy trial size/share-in-jar before you purchase. Or if we live nearby, I’d happily share some of these with you for you to try. Also, these two products might seem expensive to you but my good guess says these two would last me about 6 months or so, so that’s less than Rp 50,000,- a month.
