Can I use DDR4 RAM in Core 2 Duo?

Intel Socket 775

The Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 was a desktop processor with 2 cores, launched in January 2008. It is part of the Core 2 Duo lineup, using the Wolfdale architecture with Socket 775. Core 2 Duo E8400 has 6MB of L2 cache and operates at 3 GHz. Intel is building the Core 2 Duo E8400 on a 45 nm production process using 410 million transistors. The multiplier is locked on Core 2 Duo E8400, which limits its overclocking capabilities.
With a TDP of 65 W, the Core 2 Duo E8400 consumes typical power levels for a modern PC. Intel's processor supports DDR1, DDR2 and DDR3 memory with a dual-channel interface. For communication with other components in the machine, Core 2 Duo E8400 uses a PCI-Express Gen 2 connection. This processor does not have integrated graphics, you will need a separate graphics card.

This is the third Dell from Amazon. Same model. Same seller. Works great so far.

I had replaced our two XP workstations in April as end of support came and went for XP. I especially like that this comes with Windows 7 and Office 2010, though without Access 2010. I like Windows 7 and have a wait and see attitude about Windows 8. We are using these as strictly desktop computers, although they sit on our floors.

I have a Synology NAS, actually two, and I use this third computer to handle copying our data server files on one NAS to the other at night. I also use this to copy our files at night from our NAS to Amazon S3 cloud storage so that we have three sets of our data, two here in our house in separate and distant locations, and one offsite at Amazon. (No, I am not Dick Cheney in an undisclosed location.)

The nice thing about this computer is that it acts as a backup to our other two computers, both exactly the same basic machine and OS. If one of our computers were to go south, I could swap this computer in. I'd have to install software and get back some local data files, but the computer would be in house and ready to go.

Update: I use this new computer do do things that might take a long time or to be done at times when we are asleep and all the files are closed. This is a good time for programs that do file copying. I look to keep my workstation computer free as possible, and outsource some programs to this third computer.

I downloaded a Windows version of the PLEX media server onto this computer. This computer is one all the time so it works well as a media server. I have a Roku TV set box and I stream videos and MP3s to our TV. I use a wired Ethernet connection for speed, but wireless might work as well.
