The RWC (Rugby World Cup) France 2023 ticket packages for Follow My Team and The City Packs sold out in less than 5 hours during the public sale event on 6 April 2021.
With 350,000 tickets being snapped up by rugby fans globally, there was a backlash from fans online complaining about the ticketing system. We previously reported on the process for buying tickets for the tournament here.
Claude Atcher, CEO France 2023 said: “These 350,000 tickets that sold in record time confirms the global interest for this Rugby World Cup. Whether it be the products offered or our pricing policy, we feel we met the expectations of both French and international fans.”
World Rugby stated online that the ‘City’ and ‘Follow my Team’ packs were sold at 4,000 tickets per minute.
Can You Still Buy Tickets for RWC 2023?
The France 2023 organising committee have said that “new products and tickets for the knockout phases will be made available to the general public in Autumn 2021 (September onwards).“
Tickets being advertised on non-official platforms will be made void said the organising committee of the RWC.
An official resale platform for the Rugby World Cup will be launched in 2022 to allow individual ticket holders to sell any tickets they do not wish to keep.

I've been to the last 2 World Cups and this has got to be the worst ticketing system. The ballot system worked fine - why change it? Anyway, that is for another post.
So I have ended up with a pair of tickets for 2 team packs (Australia and Argentina) which I decided to hold for 3 euros. Unfortunately one of these is at a higher category than my friend is willing to pay so we have decided we will only buy one team pack (probably Argentina as this gives us tickets to England and Japan).
Unfortunately it seems I will have to pay for both team packs or lose them both as the hold is for the order and not the individual team packs. I have been thinking of paying for both packs and then using the resale site to sell one.
Does anyone know when the resale site will be available in 2022? Also, will the resale site allow you to sell individual parts of your team pack or would you have to sell the whole thing?
I'm a working person so there is no way I can possibly go to all the games. There will be very few people who have the time and resources to see all the games in a team or city pack so it's stupid they've done it this way. My preference would always be for individual tickets but the way they've done the ticketing this time I'm not sure if there will be too many available when that sale comes in late 2022.
