Boya by-mm1 cardioid microphone review năm 2024

The BOYA BY-MM1 Pro is a dual-capsule condenser shotgun microphone, capturing a high-quality, off-axis sound from both front and rear sides.

Its built-in 3.5mm output cable is compatible with smartphones, tablets and DSLRs by switching between camera and smartphone mode. It provides practical functions for two-person recording, vlogging, mobile journalism and much more.

The 3.5mm headphone output lets the user monitor audio with compatible apps, so you can ensure the intergrity of audio.

Included detachable Rycote® Lyre® shock mount provides a reliable and solid construction, effectively eliminating noise from vibrations and camera handling.

While I have to sheepishly admit that some of this is user error, there are still a few issues. Regardless, somehow the mic started working. The user error comes from my trying to use this item with a camcorder. It does not work with the Canon Vixia series. Period. Naturally, my gripe is that I don't remember seeing that in the description anywhere.

I don't know why it suddenly started working just fine on my iPhone. No matter what I did, it did not work at all when I first got it, but to give it benefit of the doubt, I gave it one more run through. It works fine. Go figure.

I tried to use it on my Panasonic Lumix G6, and I don't get anything more than a tinny sound that's worse than the onboard mic.

Since I have a while before it has to be returned, I'm going to give it a go and see how well it does. I will be taking it with me on my vacation. However, to be on the safe side, I will bring my honkin' big shotgun mic for sound, just in case. Which, of course, I don't want to do and that was the reason I bought this microphone in the first place.

Stay tuned for later updates. I promise to update after my vacation to let you know how it worked.

**************** I wanted a mini microphone to use on my IPhone 6S plus and my Canon camcorder for an upcoming vacation. I did not want to spend a lot of money because I knew that I would be purchasing something a little better when the 10th anniversary/iPhone 8 model comes out. I was looking for something that would give me a decent sound and that I could possibly use for YouTube videos a little bit later on. All it had to do is to last a while.

It was delivered quickly, and it was nicely packaged in an appropriately sized box. Naturally, the first thing I did was to scan the directions – this is not my first microphone rodeo, but I wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything – and then started to test it. I used the TRRS cable on my iPhone and the mic. The first test was right into the phone, first without the microphone, and then with the microphone plugged in. It worked fine, but I didn't hear a great deal of difference.

I then tried the same test at arm's-length, because that is where I am most likely to speak into the phone. Naturally, the initial test directly into the iPhone worked as I expected. The second test into the microphone was total silence. I tried it again making sure that the microphone cable was properly seated. Same result. I then took off my case, thinking that perhaps the case was somehow interfering. Once again, nothing.

Wanting to give the microphone benefit of the doubt, I tried it on the camcorder using the proper cable. Once again, perfect sound on the camcorder mic, and dead silence on the microphone. In other words, the microphone failed completely and profoundly.

I was a little nervous about being the first person to leave a review. I was hoping to be happily surprised and to leave a good review, because I just don't like to leave bad reviews. At the same time however, I expect things that I pay for to work properly. I was really hoping to be able to use this to replace the lavaliers I have used in the past, because they can be a real pain. However, even the cheapest of them work well enough for my needs.

Maybe someone else's luck will be different, but at this time I cannot recommend something that is so unstable and unreliable as to not even survive a test run. Needless to say, this will not be traveling with me on my vacation and will be packed up and sent back to Amazon.
