For 2023, Honda introduced a fully redesigned CR-V Hybrid. The electrified compact SUV will be sold alongside the gas-powered 2023 CR-V, which is covered separately. With an updated gasoline-electric hybrid engine, the all-new CR-V Hybrid will boast an increase in both power and fuel efficiency for the coming year. Show The 2023 CR-V Hybrid shares the same exterior design as the gas-only model. The redesign sees the electrified SUV get a heavily updated front end with a square grille, angular headlights, and a large central front air intake. The rear end of the CR-V features sharp taillights that start at the base of the rear spoiler and follow the curvature of the rear windshield. Dual exhaust outlets, rugged body cladding, and roof rails are also on display. On the inside, the 2023 CR-V Hybrid adopts a similar interior design to the new Honda Civic. The dashboard has a trim piece that runs nearly the entire width of the dashboard and conceals the air vents. The center console features large buttons and dials, while the infotainment screen sits on top of the dash. Thanks to a larger wheelbase and body, interior space in the CR-V Hybrid has gone up compared to last year.  The base CR-V Hybrid Sport will come with a 7-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch driver information screen, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto as standard. Available features will include a 9-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone compatibility, navigation, a wireless charging pad, and a Bose audio system. Under the hood, the 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors for a combined output of 204 horsepower. Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is available. In contrast, the current 2022 CR-V Hybrid is only available with all-wheel drive. Honda estimates that 2023 CR-V Hybrid fuel economy will come in at up to 40 mpg combined based on 43 mpg city and 36 mpg highway. This represents a modest improvement compared to the 2022 CR-V Hybrid's fuel economy score of 38 mpg overall. Having said that, 2023 CR-V Hybrid fuel economy does fall to 37 mpg with all-wheel drive. Honda Sensing comes standard on the 2023 CR-V Hybrid. Standard features should include pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring. Adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, traffic jam assist, and a driver attention monitor will be available. The introduction of a new vehicle generation gives an automaker the opportunity to redo the lineup, trimming some fat and ensuring there isn't a paralyzing amount of choice on offer. Honda did exactly that with the 2023 CR-V, bringing better-equipped trims to the forefront and simplifying the whole lineup. Honda this week announced pricing for the 2023 CR-V. A base CR-V EX with front-wheel drive and a 1.5-liter turbocharged I4 making 190 horsepower and 179 pound-feet of torque will set you back $32,355, including the mandatory $1,245 destination charge. That's a far cry from the 2022 base model's price of $28,035, but that LX trim is dead and gone; comparing it to the 2022 EX's price of $30,555 is a bit more appropriate, but the 2023 model gets a price hike nevertheless. The only other gas-only CR-V on offer is the EX-L, which will cost $35,005, which is only a few hundred bucks higher than the previous generation. The CR-V Hybrid's lineup hasn't been slimmed, but it's been renamed. All hybrids now carry Sport badging, with the base FWD Sport hybrid costing $33,695 including destination, which is about $400 more than the outgoing 2022 base EX hybrid. The top-trim Sport Touring hybrid costs $39,845, which is $800 higher than the 2022 hybrid's top trim. The hybrid is peppier, with its 2.0-liter I4 and electric motor producing a net 204 hp and 247 lb-ft. Adding all-wheel drive will incur an additional $1,500 bump on all trims, except the Sport Touring hybrid, where it's standard.
